we know if 21y5 is a multiple of 9...then sum of digits of 21y5 divisible by 9....
hence 2+1+y+5=8+y
y should be 1.... then 8+1=9 which is divisible by 9

  • For 21 y5 to be divisible by 9.

Sum of the digits 2 + 1 + y + 5 should be divisible by 9.

 \implies8 + y should be divisible by 9.

Thus,8 + y can be 0,9,18,27.

  • Since y is a single digit in the tens place,8 + y can be 9.

 \impliesy = 1.
