If 24^x = 16/9^y find the value of x and y

24^x = 16/9^y

24^x can be written as (8×3)^x

                               i.e.  (2^3×3)^x

                               i.e.  (2^3x) (3^x)..........(i)

Also 16/9^y can be written as 2^4/3^2y.........(ii)

Equating (i) and (ii) ,

(2^3x) (3^x) = 2^4/3^2y

Therefore, equating powers of 2

3x = 4

∴x = 3/4

equating powers of 3

   x = -2y

3/4 = -2y

-3/8 = y
