Given:

  • 240 litre milk contain 8% fat
  • 160 litre milk contain 15%fat
  • Both milk are mixed in each other.

To Find:

  • Percentage of fat in mixture?

Solution:

Here, given that 8% fat is present in 240 litre milk and 15% fat is present in 160 litre milk.

Let finding fat present in each milk :

Condition 1:-

In this condition,we have 240 litre milk containing 8% fat.

Fat : 8% of 240

\large{\sf{\dfrac{8}{100}×240}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{8}{10{\cancel{0}}}×24{\cancel{0}}}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{192}{10}}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{96}{5}}}

\large{\sf{19.2}}

→ Therefore, 19.2 litre fat in present in this milk.

_______________

Condition 2 :-

In this condition, we have 160 litre milk containing 15% fat.

Fat : 15% of 160

\large{\sf{\dfrac{15}{100}×160}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{15}{10{\cancel{0}}}×16{\cancel{0}}}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{240}{10}}}

\large{\sf{24}}

→ Therefore, 24 litre Fat is present in this milk.

________________

Now, we are given that milk are mixed.

Therefore,

  • Total quantity of milk after mixing = 240 + 160 = 400 litre.
  • Total fat in milk after mixing = 19.2 + 24 = 43.2 litre

Percentage :-

So,

Percentage of fat in milk ↓

\large{\sf{\dfrac{43.2×100}{400}}}

\large{\sf{\dfrac{4320}{400}}}

\large{\sf{10.8}}

Therefore,

  • Percentage of fat in mixture will be 10.8%
