C + O₂ -----> CO₂

1 mole C => 1 mole O₂

Number of moles of C = Given mass/Molar mass

                                       = 24/12 = 2moles

Number of moles of O₂ = Given mass/Molar mass

                                         = 24/32 = 12/16 = 6/8 = 3/4 = 0.75

Since 1 mole C needs 1 mole O₂

          2 mole C needs 2 mole O₂

Here, 2 moles of C is available but only 0.75 mole of O₂ is present

Hence O₂ acts as the limiting reagant in this case
