Answer:

if a, b, c are in proportion ,

than ,

b is the third proportion , means ,

b² = ac

A/q,

b² = 256a -----------(1)

now ratio of a:b = 3:16 ,

let a= 3x, b = 16x

putting values in first we get ,

(16x)² = 256*3x

256x² = 256*3x

x = 3

Numbers are :- 3*3 and 3*16 = 9 and 48 = a and b

sum = 48+9 = 57 (Ans.)
