If 28 cows cost as much as 10 horses,
then how many horses can be
exchanged for 126 cows ?​

Let x rupees and y rupees be the cost of one horse and one cow respectively.

Therefore, according to the question,

3x+5y=20500 ...(i)

2x+3y=13400 ...(ii)

On multiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3 and subtracting, we get

6x+10y=41000

On putting y=800 in (i), we get

3x+4000=20500⇒x=5500

∴cost of one horse=Rs. 5500 and

cost of one cow=Rs.800

Now, the cost of 5 horses and 4 cows=5×5500+4×800=Rs.30700
