If 288 is added to a certain number, the result will be equal to three times the excess of number over 12. Find the number.

Answer:

Let the no. be x.....

Then the equation formed will be.....

x + 288 = 3 ( x + 12 )

x + 288 = 3x + 36

2x = 252

x =126

Hence the no. is 126.....
