If 28x + 17y =63 and 17x + 28y =62 find the value of x+y and x-y

Answer:

28x + 17y = 63 ------------------- (1)

17x +28y = 62 -------------------- (2)

On subtracting (2) from (1) , we get

11x - 11y = 1

11 ( x - y ) = 1

x - y = 1/11

On adding (1) and (2) , we get

45x + 45y = 125

45 ( x+y ) = 125

x+y = 125/45

x+y = 25 / 9
