Given :

  • (2x-1,8) and (5,y+3) are equally ordered pairs.

To Find :

  • Value of x and y

Concept :

Equal Ordered pairs : The two ordered pairs are said to be equal only is their corresponding components are equal. for example is (a,b) and (c,d) be two ordered pairs. they will be considered as equal Ordered pairs only if a = c and b = d.

Solution :

As by given we can have,

\boxed{\sf (2x-1,8)=(5,y+3)}

Equalizing the components,

\begin{array}{c|c}\sf 2x-1=5&\sf y+3=8\\\\\sf 2x=5+1&\sf y=8-3\\\\\sf x = \dfrac{6}{2}&\sf y = 5\\\\\sf \boxed{\sf x=3}&\sf \boxed{\sf y=5}\end{array}

Required Answer :

  • The value of x is \underline{\sf 3}
  • The value of y is \underline{\sf 5}
