Another factor is : (x-1)

\huge\underline\mathfrak{Explanation-}

Given polynomial :

  • 2x² - x - 1

To find :

  • Another factor of given polynomial other than (2x+1)

solution :

2x² - x - 1

By splitting middle term method,

\implies 2x² - 2x + x - 1

Taking common,

\implies 2x ( x - 1 ) + 1 ( x - 1 )

\implies ( 2x + 1 ) ( x - 1 )

Here, (2x+1) is already a factor of this polynomial as it is given so another factor is : ( x - 1 )

Answer:

Other Factor is ( x - 1 )

Step-by-step explanation:

We Have :-

Polynomial = 2x²-x-1

One Factor = 2x+1

To Find :-

Other Factor of 2x²-x-1

Method Used :-

Middle Term Splitting

Solution :-

2x^{2} -x-1\\\\2x^{2} -2x+x-1\\\\2x(x-1)+1(x-1)\\\\(x-1)(2x+1)\\\\So\ by\ this\ we\ get\ other\ factor\ as\\\\x-1
