hey friend ..

2x+3y=12

2x+3y-12=0 ------1)

and again ...

3x+2y=13

3x+2y-13=0

if we adding 1 ) and 2 )

we get.

2x+3y-12
3x+2y=13
--------------
5x+5y=25

x+y=25/5

x+y=5 Ans...

hope it helps you!!

2x+3y = 12
3y = 12 - 2x
y = (12-2x)/3

Now substitute it into another equation
3x + 2[(12-2x)/3] = 13
3x + (24 - 4x)/3 = 13
(9x + 24 - 4x)/3 = 13
5x + 24 = 39
5x = 39 -24 =  15
x = 15 / 5 = 3

y = [12 - 2(3)]/3
y = (12 - 6)/3 = 2

So x + y = 3+2 = 5
