If 2x + 3y = 12 and 8x - 6y = 12 , then x and y must have the values:

first of all use elimination method .
then we get - 6x = - 9 y
x = 9y ÷ 6.
putting the value of x in first equn.
2(9y÷6)+3y = 12
18y÷ 6 + 3y = 12
(18y + 18 y) ÷ 6 = 12
36 y =72
y = 72÷36 = 2
hence put the value of y in x
x = 9*2÷ 6
= 18 ÷ 6 = 3
