2x + 3y = 24 ..........................(1)
2x - 3y = 12 ...........................(2)

By adding Eqn (1) & (2)

2x + 3y + 2x - 3y = 24 + 12
 so,    4x = 36
     so, x = 9

     By putting x = 9 in Eqn(1)

2(9) + 3y = 24

 so, 3y = 24 -18
      3y = 6
 so, y = 2

Hence, x*y = 9*2 = 18

hi!
here....

2x + 3y = 24...........................(1)
2x - 3y = 12..............................(2)

[Adding (1) &(2)]

2x + 3y = 24
2x - 3y = 12
__________
4x = 36
x = 36/4
x = 9

Substitute x= 9 in equation no.(1)

2x + 3y = 24

2(9) + 3y = 24

18 + 3y = 24

3y = 24 - 18

3y = 6

y = 6/3

y = 2

Therefore,
x = 9. \:  \:  \:  \: y = 2

So,
xy = (9)(2) = 18

Final Answer:
The value of xy is 18
