2x + 3y = 8

xy = 2

(a+b)² = a² +2ab + b²

(2x+3y)² = (2x)² +2 × 2x × 3y + (3y)²

8²= 4x²+24 + 9y²

64 - 24 = 4x²+ 9y²

∴ 4x²+ 9y² = 40

Answer:

64

Step-by-step Explanation:

4 {x}^{2}  + 9 {y}^{2}  = (2 {x} )^{2}   +( 3y  )^{2}

 = (2 {x}+ 3 {y})^{2}

 =  ({8})^{2}

 = 64
