Step-by-step explanation:

from the first equation find out the value of y in terms of x-

2x=8-3y => x=4-3y/2.......(1)

given- xy=4.......(2)

substituting (1) in (2) we get-

(4-3y/2)y=4

y(8-3y)=8

8y-3y²=4 => 3y²-8y+4=0

now solving this equation we get-

3y²-6y-2y+4=0

3y(y-2)-2(y-2)=0

(y-2)(3y-2)=0

y=2, 2/3

from this we get two values of x that are

x=2, 6

case1- when x=2

then x-1/x=3/2

case2- when x=6

then x-1/x=35/6

Hope it helps!
