we are given 2x = 3y, then

x = 3y/2

the formula to solve is

(x+y)/(x-y)

now we can substitute for x in the formula

(3y/2 + y) / (3y/2 - y) =

(5y/2) / (y/2) =

(5y/2) * (2/y) =

5, therefore

(x+y) / (x-y) = 5

Question:-

➡ If 2x = 3y, then find the ratio of (x + y) : (x - y)

Answer:-

➡ Required answer is 5 : 1

Solution:-

Given that,

2x = 3y

➡ x = 3y/2

So,

(x + y) : (x - y)

= (3y/2 + y) : (3y/2 - y)

= ((3y + 2y)/2) : ((3y - 2y)/2)

= (5y/2) : (y/2)

= 5y : y

= 5 : 1

Hence, 5 : 1 is the required ratio.
