Answer:

x = 12

Solution:

We have ;

(2x + 4)/(x - 5) = 4

The given expression can be rewritten as :

(2x + 4)/(x - 5) = 4/1

Now,

On cross-multiplication , we get ;

=> 1•(2x + 4) = 4•(x - 5)

=> 2x + 4 = 4x - 20

=> 2x - 4x = - 20 - 4

=> - 2x = - 24

=> x = -24/-2

=> x = 12

Hence,

The required value of x is 12 .
