2x+y=35. .......... (1)

3x+4y=65 .... ... (2)

From (1)

2x+y=35

y=35-2x. ......... (3)

Sub (3). In. (2)

3 x+4(35-2 c) =65

3x+140-8x=65

-5x=62-140

x = - 75/-5

X= 15..........(4)

Sub (4) in (3)

y=35-2x

=35-2×15

y=5

X=15. & y=5

Hope it helps you

The value of x is 15 and y is 5

correct question

If 2x+y=35 & 3x+4y=65 find the value x and y

Given

  • 2x+y=35 &
  • 3x+4y=65

To find

  • the value x and y

solution

we are provided with two Linear Equations containing the two variables x and y and asked to find the value of x and y so that both of the equation would be correct.

we can estimate the value of the variables x and y by the method of eliminating terms of one variable.

buy multiplying the first equation by 4 we get

8x + 4y = 140

the second equation

3x+4y=65

reducing the second equation from the first equation we get ,

5x = 75

or, x = 15

substituting the value of x in the second equation,

3(15) + 4y = 65

or, 45 + 4y = 65

or, 4y = 20

or, y = 5

therefore, the value of x is 15 and y is 5
