If 2x+y=35 and 3x+3y=65, find the value of x/y

2x+y=35 ------(1)

3x+3y=65--------(2)

From equation (1),

x=35-y/2----(3)

Put x in equation (2)

3(35-y /2) + 3y = 65

70-3y+6y=130

3y=60

Y= 20

Now put y in equation (3)

x= 35-20/2

=15/2

Now we have to find x/y

= \frac{ \frac{15}{2} }{20}

15/2×1/20 = 3/8
