Step-by-step explanation:

2x + y = 35

=> y = 35 - 2x ----(1)

3x + 4y = 65

=> 3x + 4(35 - 2x) = 65 [from (1)]

=> 3x + 140 - 8x = 65

=> 5x = 140-65 = 75

=> x = 75/5 = 15

=> y = 35 - 2x [from (1)]

=> y = 35 - 2×15 = 5

x + y = 15 + 5 = 20

x/y = 15/5 = 3

Answer:

2x + y = 35

3x + 4y = 65

= 4(2x+ y)=4(35)

1(3x + 4y)=1(65)

= 8x+4y=140

3x+4y=65

- - -

= 5x+0=75

'= 5x=75

= x=75÷5=15

2x-y=35

=2×15-y=35

=30-y=35=y=-5

now x=15,y=-5

x+y=10. & x÷y=15/-5=-3. (ans)
