From eq 1,

$\sf y=5-2x ...(3)$

Substituting value of y in equation 2

$\sf 3x+2(5-2x)=8$

$\sf 3x+10-4x=8$

$\sf -x=8-10$

$\sf -x=-2 \longrightarrow x=2 ...(4)$

Substituting value of x in equation 1,

$\sf 2(2)+y=5$

$\sf 4+y=5$

$\sf y=5-4$

$\sf y=1$

$\sf\red {x=2 \:\: and \:\: y=1 }$
