Given:-

\sf 2x+y=5 ...(1)

\sf 3x+2y=8 ...(2)

To Find:-

Value of x and y=?

Method Used:-

Substitution method

Solution:-

From eq 1,

\sf y=5-2x ...(3)

Substituting value of y in equation 2

\sf 3x+2(5-2x)=8

\sf 3x+10-4x=8

\sf -x=8-10

\sf -x=-2 \longrightarrow x=2 ...(4)

Substituting value of x in equation 1,

\sf 2(2)+y=5

\sf 4+y=5

\sf y=5-4

\sf y=1

\sf\red {x=2 \:\: and \:\: y=1 }

SOLUTION

GIVEN

2x + y - 5= 0 and 3x + 2y - 8 = 0

TO DETERMINE

The value of x and y

EVALUATION

Here the given system of equations are

2x + y - 5= 0 - - - - - (1)

3x + 2y - 8 = 0 - - - - (2)

Multiplying Equation 1 by 2 we get

4x + 2y - 10 = 0 - - - - - (3)

Equation 3 - Equation 2 gives

x - 2 = 0

⇒ x = 2

From Equation 1 Putting the values of x we get

( 2 × 2 ) + y - 5 = 0

⇒ 4 + y - 5 = 0

⇒ y - 1 = 0

⇒ y = 1

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required solution is

x = 2 & y = 1
