2x+y=6. ......(1)

2x=6-y

x= 6-y÷2

x+2y=9. ........(2)

Substitute the value

of x =6-y÷ 2 in equation 2

6-y÷2+2y=9

6-y+4y÷2=9

6+3y÷2=9

Doing cross multiply

1×(6+3y) =9×2

6+3y=18

3y=18-6

3y=12

y=12÷3

y=4

substitute the value of

y=4 in equation (1)

2x+4=6

2x=6-4

2x=2

X=2÷2

X=1

so the value of

X=1 and

y=4
