Given

We have given two Equation 2x+y=7 & x+2y=8

To find

we have to find x+y

We will solve through elimination method

=>2x+y=7---× 1

=>x+2y=8---×2

New Equation obtained

=>2x+y=7

=>2x+4y=16

\:(-)\:(-)\:\:(-)

══════════

-3y= -9

3y=9

y= 3

=>2x+y=7

Put y's value into this equation

=>2x+3=7

=>2x=4

=>x=2

x=2

Hence, x=2 & y= 3

Check:

2x+y=7

2(2)+3=

4+3=7

Now,we have to find x + y

=> 2+3

=>5

Hence, value of x+y is 5

Extra information=>

Elimination method is a way of eliminating one variable from equation of two variable so that we can find value of one variable.
