Let x be the amount 

Original amount to be divide 

between P and Q 

=83x(P) and 85x(Q)

But the amount actually 

divided was 

=52x(P) and 53x(Q)

Hence, loss of Q=85x−53x

Accordinf to Ques,

85x−53x=10

⇒4025x−24x=10 (Taking LCM)

⇒40x=10

⇒x=Rs.400
