If 3/4 of a number is added to 5/6 it gives the results as taking 7/8 of the number 20⅓ .find the number

20⅓ = \frac{61}{3}  

 As per the question,  

\frac{3x}{4}+\frac{5}{6}=y  ---- (1)  

\frac{61}{3}  - \frac{7}{8} =y ---- (2)  

Comparing (1) and (2),  

\frac{3x}{4} +\frac{5}{6} =\frac{61}{3} -\frac{7x}{8}  

\frac{3x}{4} +\frac{7x}{8} =\frac{61}{3} -\frac{5}{6}  

For LHS, LCM is 8 and for RHS, LCM is 6,  

\frac{6x+7x}{8} =\frac{(122-5)}{6}  

\\\frac{13x}{8}  = \frac{117}{6}  

\frac{117*8}{13*6}  

x=12
