3/5 part filled in 1 minute
full filled in 5/3 minute
so remaining(1 - 3/5 = 2/5) will filled in (5/3)*(2/5) = 2/3 minute = 40 seconds

Answer:

The rest of the cistern is filled by another 40 seconds and the whole cistern is filled by 100 seconds or in 1 minute 40 seconds.

To find:

How much time required for fill the rest of the cistern.

Solution:

Given that

1 minute =3/5th of the Cistern

Assume x minute= 1 cistern

By using the proportionality method,

\begin{array} { l } { 1 : \frac { 3 } { 5 } = \mathrm { x } : 1 } \\\\ { \frac { 5 } { 3 } = \frac { \mathrm { x } } { 1 } } \\\\ { 3 \mathrm { x } = 5 } \\\\ { \mathrm { x } = \frac { 5 } { 3 } \mathrm { Minutes } } \end{array}

1 minute=60 Seconds

Time required to fill whole cistern is, x= \frac {5}{3} \times 60

x = 5×20

x = 100 Seconds or 1 minute 40 seconds

Already the cistern takes 1 minute to fill 3/5 part of the cistern,

(1 minute = 60 seconds)

To fill the rest of cistern is x =100 -60 = 40 seconds

Thus, the rest of the cistern is filled by another 40 seconds and the whole cistern is filled by 100 seconds or in 1 minute 40 seconds.
