let the number be x
=> 3/5 Of a number exceeds itself by 44
lets form an euqation
=> 3x/5 = x +44
=>3x/5 - x = 44
=>3x - 5x/5 = 44
=> -2x /5 = 44
=>-2x = 44*5
=>-2x = 220
=>x = 220/-2
=>x = -110
