if 3/5 exceeds 2/7 by 44 then
3/5x + 44 = 2/7x
3/5x - 2/7x = -44

therefore,21/35x - 10/35x = 44 (on taking LCM)
therefore, 11/35x = 44
so, x = 35(44)/11
=35(4)
=140 is the answer
