Given :- if 3,6,9,12,15,18,19,21 is given data; then Quartile Deviation (Q.D.) ? .

Answer :-

given data in ascending order is :- 3,6,9,12,15,18,19,21 = 8 terms

so,

→ Q1 = (1/4)(n + 1)th term

→ Q1 = (1/4)(8 + 1)th term

→ Q1 = (1/4) * 9

→ Q1 = 2.25th term

so,

→ Q1 = 2nd term + 0.25(third term - second term)

→ Q1 = 6 + 0.25(9 - 6)

→ Q1 = 6 + 0.75

→ Q1 = 6.75

similarly,

→ Q3 = (3/4)(n + 1)th term

→ Q3 = (3/4) * 10

→ Q3 = 7.5th term .

so,

→ Q3 = 7th term + 0.5(8th term - 7th term)

→ Q3 = 19 + 0.5(21 - 19)

→ Q3 = 19 + 1

→ Q3 = 20

then,

→ QD = (Q3 - Q1)/2

→ QD = (20 - 6.75)/2

→ QD = 13.25/2

→ QD = 6.625 (Ans.)
