Answer:

By rationalizing denominator ,

(3 +√7)/( 3 - √7) =  (3 +√7)²/( (3)² - (√7)²)

                           = (16 + 6√7) / 9 - 7

                           = 8 + 3√6

∴ a = 8 and b = 3

3+√7 / 3-√7

Multiply

3+√7

on both numerator and denomerator

(3+√7)² /  (3-√7)(3+√7) \: = a+b√7

(3+√7)² /  (3-√7)(3+√7) = a+b√7

⇒9 + 7 + 6√7 / 3² -√7²   = a+b√7

⇒16+ 6√7 / 9-7              =a+b√7

⇒16+ 6√7 / 2                  =a+b√7

⇒2(8+3√7)/2                  =a+b√7

⇒8 +3√7                         =a+b√7
