According to the question, 

cost of 3 chairs and 1 tables is  Rs. 900

So,  3x + y = 900   ……...... (i) 

Also,

 cost of 5 chairs and 3 tables is Rs.2100

So  5x + 3y = 2100 ……….. (ii) 

from equation (i) and (ii) 

3 × (i) gives 9x + 3y = 2700..……… (iii) 

1 × (ii) gives 5x + 3y = 2100……….. (iV) 

{(iii) - (iV)} ,

9x+3y-5x-3y=2700-2100

4x=600

So, x = 150

putting the value of x in equation (ii), we get  

⇒ 5(150)+3y=2100 

⇒ 750+3y=2100

⇒3y=2100-750

⇒3y=1350

⇒ y=1350/3

⇒ y=450

cost of one chair,x = Rs. 150

 cost of one table,y = Rs. 450

hence ,

      cost of 4 chairs=4×150

                               = Rs. 600

      cost of 1 table  = Rs. 450

therefore,cost of 4 chair and 1 table =cost of 4 chairs+cost of 1 table
