If 3 chairs and 1 table costs rs. 1500 and 6 chairs and 1 table costs rs.2400. form linear equation to represent this situation.

The linear equation representing this situation is :- 3x + y = 1500

6x + y = 2400

Given :- cost of 3 chair and 1 table = 1500 ---- 1

cost of 6 chair and 1 table = 2400 ----- 2

To find :- Linear equation

Solution :-

• Let x be cost of 1 chair.
• Let y be cost of 1 table.
• If cost of 1 chair is x and cost of 1 table is y ,then from condition 1 ,

3x + y = 1500

• similarly from condition 2 ,

6x + y = 2400

• on solving these two equation , x= 300 ; y= 600

Cost of 1 chair = 300 ; Cost of 1 table = 600
