Solution :
Let the polynomial be:
f(x) = (k-1) x² + kx - 3
As -3 is zero of the quadratic polynomial : f(-3) = 0
⇒ f(-3) = (k-1) (-3)² + k(-3) - 3 = 0
⇒ (k-1)(9) - 3(k) - 3 = 0
⇒ 9k - 9 - 3k - 3 = 0
⇒ 6k - 12 = 0
⇒ 6k = 12
⇒ k = 2
∴ Value of k found is 2.
