Since bases are equal we can equate the exponents,

a-b = 3    -------(1)

3ᵃ⁺ᵇ = 243

3ᵃ⁺ᵇ = 3⁵

a+b = 5   --------(2)

(1) + (2) =>

2a = 8

a = 4

b = 5-4

b = 1
