Answer:-

The Required Number is 9.

Explanation:-

Given:-

  • If 3 is subtracted from a number the result would be equal to 42.

To Find:-

  • The Number.

So,

Let the Number be x.

Therefore ATQ:-

↦ (5 × Number) - 3 = 42.

↦ (5 × x) - 3 = 42.

↦ 5x - 3 = 42.

↦ 5x = 42 + 3.

↦ 5x = 45.

↦ x = 45/5.

↦ x = 9.

Therefore the Number is x which is equal to 9.

More Related Information:-

  • The equation having only one variable in it i.e. unknown value is called equation in one variable.

  • Transportation method is the most common method to find out the value of unknown variable in such equations.

  • In transportation method all known values are transported to one side (Mostly Right Side i.e. RHS) and unknown values to another side (Mostly Left side i.e. LHS).

  • During this transportation (+) become (-) and vise-versa, (×) becomes (÷) and vise-versa.
