3/(x +8) = 4/(6-x)
(6-x)3 = 4 (x+8)
18- 3x = 4x + 32
- 32+18 = 4x + 3x
-14 = 7x
- 2 = x

Since, x = -k/2
Therefore,
-2 = -k/2
-4 = -k
4 = k

GIVEN
3 / (x + 8) = 4 / (6 - x)

Cross multiply
3 (6 - x) = 4 (x + 8)
18 - 3x = 4x + 32
- 3x - 4x = 32 - 18
- 7x = 14
x = - (14 / 7)
x = - 2

ALSO
x = - K / 2
- 2 = - K / 2
K = 4

Therefore, values of x and K are - 2 & 4 respectively.
