Sum of two supplementary angles are 180 degree.

So,

(3x - 20) + (x + 20) = 180 \\  =  > 3x - 20 + x + 20 = 180 \\  =  > 4x = 180 \\  =  > x = 180 \div 4 \\  =  > x = 45

(3x−20)+(x+20)=180

=>3x−20+x+20=180

=>4x=180

=>x=180÷4

=>x=45
