 ↦ \: 3x + 2y = 13 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ....(i)

 ↦ \: 3x - 2y = 5 \:  \:  \:   \: \:  \:  \: ....(ii)

On adding eq (i) and (ii)

 ↦ \: 3x + 2y + 3x - 2y = 13 + 5

 ↦ 6x = 18

 ↦ \fbox{x = 3}

 \therefore \: 3x + 2y  = 13

 ↦3 \times 3 + 2y = 13

 ↦2y = 13 - 9

 ↦2y = 4

 ↦ \fbox {y = 2}

 \therefore \: x + y

 ↦3 + 2

 ↦ \fbox{5}

Hence, x + y = 5

Answer:

3x+ 2y = 13 ..(1)

3x-2y =5 ..(2)

Sum of 1 and 2

3x+2y+3x-2y = 13+5

6x = 18

x=3

From Eq 1

3(3)+2y=13

9+2y=13

y=4/2

y=2

=x+y

=3+2

=5

Hope it helps you
