Answer:

We know that if three numbers , say a , b , c are in A.P then b = ( a + c )/2

So x + 1 , 3x , 4x + 2 are in A.P

3x = (x +1 + 4x + 2)/2

6x = 5x + 3

x = 3

Hence the three numbers are 4, 9 , 14.

Hope this helps !

Hey mate!

In an AP, the terms have a common difference. And this common difference can be found by subtracting the first term by the next term. So,
5x+1-3x = 8x-1-(5x+1)
=> 2x+1 = 8x-1-5x-1
=> 3x-2 = 2x+1
=> 3x-2x = 1+2
=> x = 3.

That's the answer!

Hope it helps :)
