if 3x+5y =9 and 5x+3y=7 then What is the value of x +y

3x+5y=9.....(1)
5x+3y=7.......(2)
Multiply eq. (1)by3 and eq.(2) by 5 then,
9x+15y=27
25x+15y=35
Subtracting eq. 2 from 1, we get
-16x= -8 (signs change when we subtract)
16x=8
x=8/16
x=1/2
