Answer:

==> 3x + 7y = 75 ...............[1]

==> 5x - 5y = 25 ...............[2]

eq(2) can be written as, by dividing eq(2) by 5

==> x - y = 5 ......................[3]

Now,

Multiply eq[3] by 7,

we get,

==> 7x - 7y = 35 ............[4]

Now,

By elimination method in eq(4) and eq(1)

we get,

==> 7x - 7y = 35

==> 3x + 7y = 75

--------------------------

==> 10x + 0 = 110

==> 10x = 110

==> x = 11

and now by substituting the value of x in eq(3)

we get,

==> x - y = 5

==> 11 - y = 5

==> -y = 5-11

==> -y = -6

==> y = 6

Thus, value of x + y

==> 11 + 6 = 17
