If 3xy4 is divisible by 9 where x, and y are two digits, then

Given :  3xy4 is divisible by 9 where x, and y are two digits,

To Find : Choose correct option

(a) x + y = 2

(b) x + y = 11

(c) Either x + y = 2 or x + y = 11

d) Neither x + y = 2 nor x + y = 11​

Solution:

3xy4 is divisible by 9

"A number is divisible by 9 if some of digits is divisible by 9"

Sum of Digits of  3xy4

= 3 + x + y + 4

= 7 + (x + y)

x + y can be  from 0 to 18

Hence

7 + (x + y) can be between  7 and 25

numbers between 7 and 5 divisible by 9 are

9 , 18

7 + (x + y) = 9  => x + y = 2

7 + (x + y) = 18  => x + y = 11

Hence correct option is c)  Either x + y = 2 or x + y = 11    

Either x + y = 2 or x + y = 11  is 3xy4 is divisible by 9
