Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

(3y - 1)(2y + k) = ay2 + by - 5

To find:-

If (3y - 1)(2y + k) = ay2 + by - 5 for all values

of y, what is the value of a + b?

Solution:-

Given equation is (3y - 1)(2y + k) = ay²+ by - 5

=>3y(2y+k)-1(2y+k)=ay²+by-5

=>6y²+3ky-2y-k=ay²+by-5

=>6y²+(3k-2)y-k=ay²+by-5

On comparing both sides then

a=6

b=3k-2

k=5

we have k=5 then

b=3(5)-2

=>b=15-2

=>b=13

we have a=6 and b=13

Now value of a+b=6+13=19

Answer:-

The value of a+b for the given problem=19
