If -4 is a root of the quadratic equation x×x+px-4=0 and the quadratic equation x×x+px+k=0 has equal roots, find the value of k?

Answer:

Helloo!!

P(x) = x2 + px - 4

P (-4) = 16 -4p -4 =0

p = 3

for equal roots  

b2 - 4ac =0

9 - 8k = 0

-8k = -9

k = 9/8
