Let's assume the capacity of the tank is 6x4 = 24 litres.

First tap fills it in 6 hours i.e. at the rate of 24/6= 4 litres/hour

Second tap fills it in 4 hours i.e. at the rate of 24/4= 6 litres/hour

When both taps are turned on together, the flow rate is 4+6=10 litres/hour

Time taken to fill the 24 litre tank = 24/10=2.4 hours!

Answer:

15 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : 4 taps can fill a tank in 10 hours.

To Find: In how many hours can six tap fill the same tank

Solution:

4 taps can fill tank in hours = 10

1 tap can fill tank in hours = \frac{10}{4}

6 tap can fill tank in hours = \frac{10}{4} \times 6

                                            = 15

Hence 6 taps can fill tank in 15 hours.
