If 40 gram of caco3 is treated with 40gram of the hcl which of the reactent will act as limiting reagent.

CaCo3 + 2HCl = CaCl2 + H2O + CO2

100 g of CaCO3 should react with 73 g of HCl
But 40 g reacts with 40 g
Therefore, CaCO3 acts as the limiting reagent.
