40% of 80=y+20%of 90

 \frac{40}{100}  \times 80 = y +  \frac{20}{100}  \times 90

Here ,100 & 80 is cancelled by 20 and on Right side 20/100 is cancelled by 20 and then 90 by 5.

 ⟹\frac{2}{5}  \times 80 = y +  \frac{1}{5}  \times 90

⟹2 \times 16 = y + 18

⟹32 = y + 18

⟹y = 32 - 18

\huge\tt{\boxed{\red{y = 14}}}
