✮Question:

  • If 40:x and x:40 are in proportion. Then find the value of 2x?

✮Solution:

  • 40:x:x:40
  • Product of means = Product of extremes
  • x × x = 40 × 40
  • x² = 1600
  • x = √1600
  • x = 40

✮ The value of x is 40

✮ The value of 2x is 2×40 = 80

If 40 : x and x : 40

If 40 : x and x : 40 [ We know for a proportion product means equals to product of extremes]

If 40 : x and x : 40 [ We know for a proportion product means equals to product of extremes]x × x = 40 × 40

 {x}^{2} = 1600 \\ x = \sqrt{1600} \\ x = \sqrt{ {(40)}^{2} } \\ x = 40 \\ if \: x = 40 \\ then \: the \: value \: of \: 2x = 2 \times 40 = 80

Therefore value of 2x = 80
