Answer :-

→ 448A/3 = Remainder 0 .

we know that,

  • A number is divisible by 3 , if sum of all digits of a number is also divisible by 3 .

so,

→ (4 + 4 + 8 + A) / 3 = Remainder 0 .

→ (16 + A) / 3 = Remainder 0 .

Possible values of A :-

  • A = 0 => 16 + 0/3 = 16/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 1 => 16 + 1/3 = 17/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 2 => 16 + 2/3 = 18/3 = Remainder 0 .
  • A = 3 => 16 + 3/3 = 19/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 4 => 16 + 4/3 = 20/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 5 => 16 + 5/3 = 21/3 = Remainder 0 .
  • A = 6 => 16 + 6/3 = 22/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 7 => 16 + 7/3 = 23/3 ≠ Remainder 0 .
  • A = 8 => 16 + 8/3 = 24/3 = Remainder 0 .
  • A = 9 => 16 + 9/3 = 25/3 = Remainder 0 .

therefore,

  • A = 2, 5 or 8 . (Ans.)

A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits of the number is divisible by 3

EVALUATION

Here the given number is 448A

Now sum of the digits

= 4 + 4 + 8 + A

= A + 16

Now 448A is a multiple of 3 if A + 16 is divisible by 3

Now A + 16 is divisible by 3 if A = 2 , 5 , 8

FINAL ANSWER

A is either one of 2 , 5 , 8
