Let smaller number is ( y ) and greater number is ( x )
According to the question :
Case I,
45 is subtracted from 2 the ( x )
=> 2x - 45 = y ----1equation
Case II,
21 is subtracted from 2 times ( y )
2y - 21 = x
Putting the value of ( y ) from 1equation,
=> 2( 2x - 45 ) -21 = x
=> 4x - 90 - 21 = x
=> 4x - x = 111
=> 3x = 111
=> x = 37
Putting the value of ( x ) in 1equation,
=> 2x - 45 = y
=> 2(37) - 45 = y
=> 74 - 45 = y
=> 29 = y
Hence, Numbers are 29 and 37
